Before you decide whether you’re refurbishing existing space or beginning the search for some where new, it’s important to know your true requirements and have a blueprint for an efficient and effective workplace.
Home → Stay Vs Go
There comes a time when all organisations have the choice of whether to stay in their current office location or make the move and go to a new space. These choices can be driven by a number of factors including; lease breaks, headcount growth or reduction and re-brands or re-evaluation of the workplace.
There is a tendency to view moving to a new purpose-built office as a better option, but in the right circumstances, intelligent office refurbishment can be as an effective solution.
Engagement, analysis and understanding are at the heart of your workplace blueprint and therefore the answer to the ‘stay or go’ question.
The answer is to question everything you think you know about your workspace and the people using it. By taking the time to unpick the ‘myths’ and moans, you can learn much more about your team’s likes, dislikes and behaviours.
AQA owns three interconnected buildings in Manchester city centre that had remained untouched for more than four decades. The goal was to modernise and optimise these structures rather than re-locating to a new building, ensuring they could better serve the needs of AQA and their colleagues.
Marsh McLennan chose to move out of a busy city centre building which had since grew un-fit for purpose due to growth in headcount and challenges in collaboration. Marsh chose an out of town Business Park to call home as the relocation created an opportunity to put their focus on both their people and collaboration.
When creating your future workplace, you’ll want an environment that is specifically tailored to your objectives, your people and business process. Looking at the systems you currently have in place and considering how you might improve on these will help direct your requirements when you come to creating your future space.
