PEXA
case study
We chose Leeds as the home of our UK headquarters because its spirit of innovation and collaboration matches that of our business. Consequently, we needed an interior design and fit-out partner who shared our vision and ambition and could bring our brand to life. Claremont really understood us and has delivered on every level, creating a space that is high-energy, high-impact and rich in choice. We’re hugely proud of our new office and know it will be crucial to our continued growth and support of the local Leeds and wider north of England areas.
Simon Wright, Chief Operating Officer, PEXA.
The big idea
Choosing Leeds as the home of its new headquarters, PEXA wanted its first UK-leased workplace to match its ambition and offer an inspiring and collaborative work environment for its 300+ employees and subsidiary business, Optima Legal. Claremont was tasked with designing and fitting out PEXA’s new home at 114 Wellington Street in West Village, Leeds.
Nailing the brief
Claremont’s design delivers a high-energy and on-brand welcome as the doors open into the forum, which is the social heart of the office. Here, various relaxed collaboration and social spaces coalesce, providing employees with choice and the business with flexibility and longevity.
The kitchen, break-out spaces and relaxed seating accommodate group meetings as easily as work friends enjoying lunch, while the forum area’s tiered seating provides an informal gathering space and the perfect spot for company meetings. The new office includes a dedicated wellbeing room called The Retreat, which is discretely located yet easy to identify.
The office also accommodates a series of smaller wall-less meeting spaces, which still offer privacy without the harsh barriers of fixed walls. A mobile digital screen is also available so employees can move the facilities they need to their chosen workspace.
The final result
The office has a wealth of settings to accommodate hybrid working, with distinct spaces such as phone booths, high benches, meeting pods and soft seating, as well as co-working and project spaces and a library. The office also includes a boardroom with a moveable partition wall to split the room easily.
Traditional desking features around the perimeter of the floorplate to maximise natural light, and Optima Legal has its own secure office space, compromising desking and storage.
