Arcadis

case study
We’ve been on a transformational journey over the last three to four years, with a real focus on sustainability, inclusive spaces and wellbeing for Arcadians across the globe. The space in Glasgow is a very good example of the quality and level of design and development we’ve achieved across the portfolio. The values and intent we had at the start of this project can be seen in this new office. It delivers on our brief perfectly.
Toby Chapman - Global Workplace Strategy Director - Arcadis

The big idea
A business at the forefront of global design and consultancy for the built environment is always bound to have big ambitions and a clear understanding of what its people need to thrive – right? From the beginning, Arcadis knew it needed a sustainable, inclusive, and wellness-focused space for its Glasgow team – drawing inspiration from the city, aligning with its global style, and exceeding everything that had come before!
Nailing the brief
We’ve supported Arcadis’ commitment to hybrid working, celebrating its friendly and welcoming culture through our design and hitting the brief head-on by focusing on variety and choice to boost productivity.
With a hotel lobby feel, the whole office is built on sociability and collaboration. Spaces have been deliberately designed for multiple uses so that meeting rooms can be used individually or opened up for seminars and company-wide gatherings. Clever use of integrated technology, with interactive screens and intuitive meeting room tech, gives the office an edge and ensures anyone can work anywhere.
Sustainability informed much of our design and fit-out, such as using super energy-efficient M&E and lighting systems to meet Arcadis’ goals. Great use of natural light, exceptional acoustic management, and a dedicated wellness room keep the employee experience front and centre.
The city of Glasgow heavily inspires the design, too. Using the local colour palette and art nouveau heritage, we’ve given Arcadis a striking cultural hub to match the city’s inimitable energy and famous cultural scene.

The final result
Arcadis’ new home isn’t just visually impressive – it’s also functionally impressive. It includes numerous tools to boost productivity and create a brilliant employee experience. It is open-plan, welcoming, and rich in choice, with team settings, project areas, concentration pods, and more. Arcadis’ employees, also known as Arcadians, now have everything they need to be happy, healthy and productive!
