The big idea
Boosting productivity, aiding collaboration, creating community, supporting recruitment and embracing hybrid working were all part of FanDuel’s ambition and vision for its new Edinburgh office – while also telling the story of the brand, which is part of the Flutter Entertainment plc.
Having previously designed and fit-out Flutter’s six-storey global HQ in Dublin, we already knew FanDuel well and understood their desire to curate positive, inspiring and motivating employee experiences and promote choice through the workplace.
Nailing the brief
Using FanDuel’s sports business for inspiration, our design plays on lots of sports references including the layout, which is based on a dart board. At the centre of the floorplate you’ll find a plethora of shared collaboration spaces, with more individual work settings radiating from it. Notable design features include a collaboration area within a sports commentators’ box as well as on-the-floor wayfinding graphics inspired by the stitching on a baseball, plus a whole floor dedicated to wellbeing and relaxation.
As face-to-face collaboration is so integral to FanDuel’s success, we knew our design had to encourage people to actively choose in-office working. We also recognised that in-person collaboration isn’t always possible and that tech-led solutions were needed to deliver positive hybrid meeting experiences for everyone. The design is centred on choice and helps to convey just how much FanDuel values its people.
The final result
All four floors of FanDuel’s new Edinburgh home are rich in choice, personality, attention to detail and originality.
The finished space is a celebration of empowerment and choice, as it sends a clear message that FanDuel employees can choose how and where they work, on their terms. Now FanDuel has a powerful extra tool in its recruitment arsenal – as the office is not only a dynamic and collaborative environment in which employees can thrive, but an embodiment of the brand, its values and its plans for growth.
