Ward Hadaway

Ward Hadaway requested a workspace rich in choice, flexibility and personality to reflect their new brand, support new ways of working and attract new talent, as well as new business. The result is a stand-out collaborative workspace in Manchester’s booming legal sector, and a far cry from their old corporate home.

It’s hard to believe it’s the same office. Claremont has packed so much choice and brand personality into the square footage it’s wonderful. Our team now has an incredibly well equipped space I know they are proud to work from and welcome clients to.

Nailing the brief

Where Ward Hadaway’s old interior was desk-centric and comprised just five meeting rooms and two one-to-one spaces – the new design offers a plethora of choice to support collaboration and entice the team back into the office.

Three standard meeting rooms, four flexible meeting spaces (that can become a seminar space), two VC rooms, four one-to-one booths and two lone working pods support new and flexible ways of working, without compromising the feeling of space.

We made all of this possible within the same floorplate by adopting a 10:6 desk ratio, choosing smaller banks of desks, reducing the amount of on-site storage and providing employees with lockers for personal effects.

We’ve also been careful to strike the balance between collaboration and concentration.  Meeting rooms, pods and booths have all been given acoustic treatment, while the print station has been located discretely to minimise noise and clutter.  Two separate entrances also feature, one for clients and one for staff,  to reduce disruption and maximise privacy.

Other design features include a refurbished home-from-home kitchen for lunch breaks and informal gatherings, the use of natural planting to add visual interest and support wellbeing, and  strong brand storytelling with company values adorning the staff entrance walls and pops of the brand colours appearing throughout.
