Weaver Vale

Weaver Vale Housing Trust wanted its head office to provide a welcoming and inviting space for office and site-based employees to call home. The brief was borne out of workplace consultancy, which was used to understand the wants and needs of both the organisation and its people.

The Design

The design gives Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s office the social heart, community feel and flexible workspace it was looking for. To maximise the available space and create more choice for employees, the design reduces the reliance on desking and moves the trust to a 10:6 desk ratio.

Employees now have several social and collaboration spaces to choose from on the building’s ground floor, as well as dedicated areas for breakout and relaxation, a refreshed wellbeing and prayer toom and newly refurbished toilets. Special consideration has been given to how spaces are co-located so that sociable breakout spaces are away from areas for more concentrated work.

Other features include a dedicated customer meeting room for the trust’s tenants to use as well as a number of acoustic-controlled booths so employees can take Teams calls without disrupting the main office.  Technology has been integrated in all meeting and training spaces to support hybrid and remote working behaviours.

To maximise the available budget and minimise the project’s environmental footprint, the design makes use of the building’s existing partitioning and reuses 50% of the trust’s furniture. The finished design brings Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s brand to life though the use of colour, carpets and manifestations as well as its open, collaborative and community feel.

The Outcome

Now, Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s head office reflects its people-centric values and gives employees the workplace tools they need to thrive together.

The workplace consultancy process allowed us to really understand what our people and the organisation as a whole needed from the office.  When our budget had to change at the start of the project, these insights helped us to sharpen our focus and concentrate on delivering the facilities our team needed the most.  We’re thrilled that our new office embodies our brand and culture so well and is somewhere our team can be proud of.
