The Design

Capitalising on our already strong working relationship with Arcadis we set about creating a professional and architectural design that would not only support the Birmingham office’s hybrid needs but could be replicated in other Arcadis office projects we were working on.

Our team took a nimble approach to the project, responding to challenges as they appeared – such as the absence of the sprinkler system on the Grade A fitout drawings which required swift design adaption on site.

Inclusion and diversity, both central to Arcadis’ culture, heavily informed our design approach. Areas have been designed to cater for neurodiverse employees and ensure spaces that suit users’ different preferences, wants, working styles and tasks.

The design features a variety of activity-based and tech-led work settings with open plan areas, drop in spaces for quick video calls, quiet zones, collaborative areas for team work, and more.

While the overall office design is certainly befitting Arcadis’ brand, it also reflects the city it’s located in. Aspects of the Birmingham skyline and the city’s industrial heritage have informed softer design touches and wall finishes to create a sense of place and give the office its own personal identity.
