Bryt Energy

case study

The big idea
As a fast-growing renewable electricity supplier, Bryt Energy found themselves quickly outgrowing their former workspace. In search of a modern, engaging environment that would support their expanding team and reflect their dynamic brand, they turned to Claremont. The goal: to create a workspace at Cornerblock in Birmingham that encourages collaborative working in an office they can be proud of, whilst reinforcing their sustainable ethos.
Nailing the brief
Sustainability is at the core of everything Bryt Energy does, and their new office needed to be an extension of this. Inspired by the company’s three renewable sources: Solar, Wind and Hydro, our design team created a concept rooted in the theme of movement. These natural forces were translated into key design elements throughout the workspace, establishing a connection between the company’s mission and its physical surroundings.
A full SKA review was conducted early in the process, with the project successfully working towards a SKA Silver Accreditation. Sustainable choices were essential as part of this accreditation: upholstered with natural fabrics as well as recycled materials such as Camira Quest Fabric, a material derived from recycled ocean plastics. Humanscale Liberty task chairs, crafted from post-consumer recycled materials, were selected for their environmental credentials. One of the standout features is the bespoke reception desk, constructed from Polygood®, a material made entirely from recycled CD cases and refrigerators.
To make the new space both inviting and vibrant, we collaborated closely with Bryt Energy’s marketing team to weave their brand identity into the design. The ceiling in the kitchen and social hub was resprayed in a vivid orange – adding a bold, energetic touch to the heart of the office.

The final result
The Cornerblock office is now a truly flexible and inclusive space, offering a variety of working environments to suit different needs and preferences. The client suite features five spacious meeting rooms, two of which can be combined using bifold doors. In the main workspace, an additional five meeting rooms, including a multi-use quiet room, support focus and collaboration among employees
Employee wellbeing was a driving force behind the design. A multi-functional wellbeing and multifaith room, enclosed focus rooms, and multiple quiet zones have been thoughtfully integrated. Acoustic panels enhance comfort and help to create zones within the open-plan layout, while planting features introduce biophilia and supports a calming atmosphere.
Innovative design is woven into every detail of Bryt Energy’s new home. In reception, visitors are welcomed by a striking brand wall featuring angled ribbon lights, echoing the angles at which sunlight hits solar panels. A tunnel walkway continues the narrative, with jagged acoustic panels mimicking wind turbines and telling the story of Bryt Energy’s purpose.
One of the most recognisable design elements is the bespoke turbine-inspired divider walls. Designer Alicia shared: “The space I’m most proud of is the turbine divider walls. I was inspired by wind farms to create a wall of moving turbines. The concept was ambitious, but by working with our supplier, Apex, we custom-engineered steel fins to bring this vision to life. The final result is visually stunning and perfectly represents Bryt Energy.”
The kitchen is more than just a place for lunch – it’s the heart of the office. Designed as a multifunctional social and collaboration zone, the space features lighting reminiscent of electric currents and splashback tiles laid out to mirror solar panels. It also functions as a town hall space for company events, fully equipped with AV.
This project has given Bryt Energy not just a new office, but a physical embodiment of their brand, values, and aspirations; a sustainable, engaging, and forward-thinking space to support their future growth.
