DAC Beachcroft
case study
The vision
Having previously moved DAC Beachcroft’s Bristol team into their Portwall Place office in 2008, Claremont were once again on hand to relocate them as they made the move into the Grade A Listed, and award winning, Welcome Building. Given the modern nature of the office and hybrid working, their previous office space had become too big for their needs and so the objective of the move became to find a space that allowed them to continue growing in the region whilst reducing the size of their real estate.
The design
The client’s brief was to create a warm and welcoming space for colleagues and visitors. That sense of welcome begins even before entering the office. Visible from Temple Meads station below, the 7th-floor windows display a striking illuminated DAC Beachcroft logo, making a strong first impression. Inside, visitors are greeted in reception by an identical glowing logo alongside a well-designed tea point that provides the perfect setting for hosting clients.
As part of making the space a welcoming one for clients the design incorporates an outdoor-inspired colour palette that brings the beauty and tranquillity of nature indoors, creating a harmonious and calming atmosphere within the space.
The client suite features soft seating, booths, an open breakout space, a seminar room, and several meeting rooms. The breakout area is also found in the space and is ideal for large events and gatherings, which the firm has already taken full advantage of. The space, named Murphy’s in honour of a colleague who worked closely with Claremont and sadly passed away during the move, serves as a meaningful tribute.
The layout spans the entire building across both floors, featuring expansive glass windows that offer stunning city views from every corner of the office. The two floors are connected to one another through a stunning feature staircase, creating a sense of cohesion even when working on different floors. The client suite also includes an outdoor area, with a balcony that provides the perfect spot for working whilst taking in the sun during the summer months.
Local identity is brought to life through large framed photographs of the city, creating a sense of place that resonates throughout the workspace. This connection is complemented by an open-plan design structured into neighbourhoods, making it easy for teams to move between departments. Within these zones, touchdown tables, pods, and breakout spaces are thoughtfully integrated across the staff floor, ensuring flexibility and encouraging collaboration in every area.
The end result
DAC Beachcroft’s new home is a flexible space that promotes flexible working and collaboration, perfect for today’s legal workplace landscape consistent with their portfolio across the UK. It is perfectly located with easy access to the train station, local shops and restaurants, as well as great amenities within the building. The relocation provides the perfect environment for their 800+ staff, enhancing their productivity and wellbeing.
