The vision

As part of a nationwide upgrade to its real estate portfolio, Allianz’s latest project focused on bringing its Leeds office in line with this broader transformation. With their lease approaching expiry, they took the opportunity to relocate to City Square House, better aligning their workspace with their evolving needs and future ambitions.

The design

Building on Allianz’s initial concept layouts, the design has been developed into a fully resolved workplace that reflects both operational needs and a strong sense of place. The space centres on an open-plan office supporting call centre staff, complemented by a large, welcoming breakout area that forms the social and collaborative heart of the workplace. Designed for flexibility, this space incorporates adaptable furniture and AV solutions, allowing it to be reconfigured for town hall meetings of varying sizes and formats. A dedicated client suite is positioned to maximise views over City Square, enhancing the visitor experience, while careful attention to acoustics, privacy, and the overall client journey ensures the open-plan environment functions effectively.

Drawing on its surroundings, the design blends a clear Leeds influence with a distinct Allianz office identity. Local architectural references are woven throughout to anchor the workspace within its context, reinforcing a strong sense of place. This is expressed through both graphics and material choices, including stone acoustic finishes inspired by Leeds’ built character, bespoke metalwork referencing its industrial heritage, and archways and lighting that echo local forms. Together, these elements create a cohesive and engaging environment that feels rooted in its setting while strengthening Allianz’s identity.

The end result

Delivered over a focused 9-week programme, the project successfully achieved SKA Silver accreditation, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable fit-out standards.

The result is a 15,900 sq ft workspace that brings Allianz’s Leeds office in line with its wider portfolio refresh, while responding to the evolving demands of the modern workplace. The design creates a more flexible, future-ready environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing, and productivity.

Working in close partnership with Allianz, we took a collaborative, insight-led approach to identify and implement the most impactful sustainability measures. By aligning environmental objectives with commercial priorities, we ensured that every solution delivered measurable environmental benefits alongside optimal cost efficiency, maximising value without compromising performance.
